A/Prof Monisha Gupta is a general dermatologist treating conditions of the skin, hair and nails. She is committed to delivering personalised care to her patients with a holistic approach to medicine, integrating advice about diet and lifestyle in achieving health goals.
She is the Director of Dermatology at Liverpool Hospital, looking after the needs of the South West Sydney Local Health District.
As the former Head of Phototherapy at the Skin Hospital, Monisha has been instrumental in developing phototherapy guidelines to suit the unique needs of Australian patients. As part of her expertise in phototherapy, she set up the Excimer Lamp clinic at The Skin Hospital to allow patients access to targeted therapy for their skin conditions. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the Home Based Phototherapy Clinic was launched to allow suitable patients to self-administer a convenient form of phototherapy at home.
Melding her experience across different countries, she set up the first Pigmentary Disorders Clinic at The Skin Hospital in 2012, which soon incorporated a Camouflage Clinic to deliver complete care for disorders of pigmentation. A/Prof Gupta is recognised nationally and internationally as an expert in Phototherapy and Pigmentary disorders and delivers lectures, writes papers and publishes widely on these topics.
As part of her commitment to affordable care, she developed a novel protocol for surgery for vitiligo in an attempt to reduce the cost of the procedure to patients while maintaining efficacy. Almost a dozen patients have undergone the procedure successfully.
